click to enlarge Term: Intelligent Design Function: noun 1: the assertion which states that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by positing an intelligent designer (read: God). 2: "To replace materialistic explanations with the theistic understanding that nature and human beings are created by God." My problem with Intelligent Design (ID) is not that it might provide a way for religion (voo doo) to weave it's way into science (science), but that Intelligent Design's (ID's) underlying premise proves that God is evil. Christians should be outraged by what ID proposes, instead they see this as a victory and validation for their beliefs. click to enlarge In a nutshell: ID's description states that only 'certain features' of the universe can be applied and this theory provides no account or explanation for purposelessness in nature (dysteleology) which is witnessed in the existence of vestigial parts (eg: human organs). 'Certain features,' is the first red light (for obvious reasons), but ID's explanation of pathogens, microbes, and viruses makes God Himself, and not man's sin, the author of evil. click to enlarge Last month, there was a Creationism Mega Conference (no shit, there actually was), which brought together 'the world’s greatest minds in creation to equip people to defend their faith.' It also yeilded this lovely quote: "Once you have God intervening in the world to tinker with his design to bring good things, he is also responsible for all the bad things. It's inescapable. But the ID folks are running around pretending to be scientists. The second they talk about natural history being influenced by human sin is the day they blow their cover. But this leaves them with no effective answer at all. Usually they just argue lamely that what we perceive as bad design might actually have some hidden purpose. Sorry guys. No one's buying that." - Jason Rosenhouse: Author of 'The Panda's Thumb' click to enlarge So after all of this explanation and citation, what's my point? Well I'll tells ya. This week there has been some discussion about having schools discuss "intelligent design" alongside evolution when teaching students about the creation of life. Christian conservatives have been pushing for the teaching of intelligent design in public schools not understanding the full breadth of the damage it could do to their own childrens' belief structure. The last thing these radical Christians need is to have their own kids questioning even more, and that's excactly what will happen. click to enlarge This debate will only work to divide our fractured education system even more and turn Christian against Christian and, trust me, that's exactly what them stinkin' sword-wieldin' Arabs want.

Holy shit. Knish went off the deep end there.

Sounds like the kind of day i have had when dealing with my ex-jizz receptacle....I knew I should have thrown it on her back.

But for the fact that even little time with the kids is better than no time, I would have ended it all a long time ago my friend.

Oh yeah, good article Neal. You are easily as funny as anything I have read since 3pm.

Clarification... I wasn't talking about my own son. He's amazing and I would be far worse off in life if it weren't for him. And he's a great kid in spite of the "monster" he lives with. I had just spent an afternoon with a friend of mine in a similar situation but whose child called him a "horrible dad" over and over again for not buying ice cream. I think the mother may be to blame in the child's perception of him and it's because of pure bitterness and evil on her part. So, I still stand by the jizz-receptacle comment because I've been subjected to the same character assassination.

Other than that... great weather we're having, eh?

Rose,

Well done. Way to misinterpret Knish, AND judge him at the same time.
Nicely done.

What in the world? My comment is not about religion or faith, it is about how Intelligent Design makes no sense. When you break down what ID is all about, the theory makes God the bearer of bad things, and that's not right.

If you do love God, Jesus and believe in the teachings of the Bible, do yourself a favor and read into this.

Unfortunately, since you just glanced over my post and found it to be anti-religious, you've entirely missed the point. Which is sad as you will probably promote the teachings of ID which will ultimately be bad news for Christians in America.

Read and comprehend before you profess to understand.
